RISE is a professional theatre school dedicated to teaching all aspects of the arts and inspiring talented, young creatives both on the stage and behind the scenes. At RISE we are building a thriving and supportive community for aspiring performers and creators.
Our Theatre Club has had an uptake of 50+ children over the last 2.5 years and drawn crowds by the hundreds down to Par-Tee’s end of term performances. Parents & children have been unwaveringly committed and dedicated to being a part of the community. Joining in with costume making, dance rehearsals and even recording and releasing our own original single for charity.
We will be now offering 3 hour sessions on Sunday mornings at ATF in Almancil working in collaboration with AIS to share their fabulous facilities and warm community. We will be working towards a final performance at the end of year and termly mini previews.
In the 3 hour sessions, the students will learn dance, music and collective arts including performance, drama, show practice and literacy fluency.
They will be working with original material and music for the show which will be supported by local radio station KISS FM in the way of interviews and record releases.
Professional singer, actress, songwriter, yoga teacher and graduate from Italia Conti with extensive experience in many facets of the performing arts industry.
As a singer, songwriter, actress and mother, it is a gift to be able to use my passions to nurture young talent and encourage them to become more confident and equipped with skills that will be invaluable as they enter into adulthood. Being a founder of Par-tee Theatre Club and experiencing the unwavering commitment and growth from children and adults alike has inspired me to build Rise into a supportive and creative hub that the Algarve is calling for.
For those interested in careers in the arts, having navigated the film & music industry for nearly 2 decades, I am thrilled to be able to provide informed support and guidance for young professionals so they have more knowledge of the pitfalls and nature of the industry. Being a qualified yoga teacher, I will also incorporate mindfulness and meditation within classes to help children with anxiety or nerves and encourage confidence and empowerment.
I can also provide LAMDA qualifications and examinations which count towards UCAS points for university.
I am a fully qualified primary school teacher with experience teaching music and drama, and class teaching experience across the key stages, between ages 5-11.
Theatre arts and involvement in plays, musicals and bands has been an incredibly positive and influential feature of my life, from my own primary school years to now.
The sense of community, commitment, friendship and confidence that builds through being part of a show, from class plays, to big stage shows, is a beautiful and powerful thing. The skills that we develop and the connections we make through theatre arts, whether backstage, on stage, or out at the front directing and cheering on our team, are invaluable and reap benefits for our health in so many ways, physically and mentally.
In terms of combining the arts and education - literacy skills are so beautifully developed through performance. Storytelling, reading, writing and speaking skills are all naturally woven in, from reading or writing scripts to speaking or singing in front of an audience. Children learn to find their voice in so many ways.
I’m so grateful for every creative project I’ve been involved in and I am excited for all of the new ones to come with Rise.
Amy began dancing at the early of three and at sixteen was awarded a place to train professionally at the prestigious Central School of Ballet in London. She graduated with BA Honours Degree in Professional Dance and Performance and went on to work with ballet companies worldwide performing soloist roles in well-known classics such as Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella to name a few.
She then went onto perform West End style productions on board Cunard’s Queen Victoria and has been fortunate enough to work with world-renowned choreographers throughout her career.
Amy is a registered teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance and offers the highest standard of teaching in many dance disciplines including ballet, contemporary and jazz. She has more than twenty years of experience in the Performing Arts Industry and is excited to be bringing her wealth of knowledge, love and passion for dance to RISE.
My passion for dance ignited at the age of 4 when I joined my first dance school. As my love for ballet grew it led me to complete my Royal Academy of Dance graded exams. Then at age 13, my family relocated to Portugal and alongside my academic pursuits I diligently pursued my ballet exams, achieving a distinction in the Intermediate Vocational Level of the RAD. During this time, I participated in many stage productions and would love to share my knowledge and experience with the children at Rise.
The dream of becoming a dance teacher has always been set in my heart. This became a reality as I pursued higher education at Canterbury Christ Church University, earning a BA (Hons) Degree in Dance Education. Throughout my university years, I undertook several placements teaching in primary and secondary schools, honing my skills and nurturing the next generation of dancers.
Now, as a graduate, I am thrilled to embark on the next chapter of my journey and delighted to be part of a team of dedicated, passionate, and professional teachers at Rise. I look forward to inspiring your children through the art of dance.
